Agonizing Love

pAnd above the city skylines,
He saw an open heart,
A subtle chaos that followed,
An awed love, a silent wail,
And a will to take over,
He opened his arms,
And let her fall into them,
Thorns in his side,
Roses in her hands,
He sighed as he bled,
For she smiled in the rush,
Wasn’t that all he ever wanted?
Perhaps it was,
And perhaps he was happy too,
But the thorns hurt when they left,
And there sat a gaping hole in its place.
